Highlander School is officially closed. We are grateful to everyone who has supported and loved Highlander over the last 57 years, and we know its legacy will live on through every person who walked these halls.

A letter from our Principal, Jill Reed.

Thank you for your steadfast commitment, love and dedication to Highlander School. Our family has loved this school for the past 57 years, and it will always hold a special place in our hearts and many others. Born out of my mother’s heart and passion, Highlander School has always been our family business. Since the doors first opened in 1966, we have lived and breathed Highlander, dedicating our lives to it with the understanding that God was always in control.

When my mother passed away in 2016, we continued to follow God’s guidance, pushing to keep the school open knowing that His arms were wrapped around the school, its faculty and students. And just as God guided us then, He began to guide us that it was time to close over the last year. While this felt unthinkable to us, we remained steadfast to Him, and He continued to show us that it was time.

While Highlander was my mother’s passion, it never came before family and she challenged us to always prioritize family over everything. We know that we have her full support in this decision.

Thank you for supporting and loving this school through the years. Thank you for trusting Highlander and the Woodring family with God’s most precious gifts, your children.

Jill Woodring Reed
